Which permissions does the TuneIn app for Android use and why?

Modified on Fri, 19 Jul at 1:10 PM

In-App Purchases: Required for any subscriptions or in-app purchases. No in-app purchases are made without your explicit consent.

Identity: Allows you to create a TuneIn account and integrate the app with Google+ or Facebook.

Contacts: Allows you to invite your friends to TuneIn or search for contacts already on TuneIn.

Location: We use your current location to provide you with a list of local radio stations and popular content near you.

Phone: Allows the app to know when you receive or end a phone call. This prevents TuneIn from interrupting your calls and allows playback to resume when you hang up.

Photos/Media/Files/Storage: We use this permission to store album art on your Android device, and to buffer and cache streams as they play to reduce network communication and improve performance. This does not give us access to your photos or videos.

Microphone: This enables you to use voice search on Android TV.

Device ID & Call Information: This allows the app to determine the phone number, device IDs, whether a call is active, and the remote number connected by a call.

Receive Data From the Internet: This lets you receive push notifications on your phone. You can opt out of push notifications at any time.

Run at startup: This enables you to use the alarm feature.

Use Accounts on the Device: This allows you to create a TuneIn account and integrate with Google+ or Facebook.

Prevent Device From Sleeping: We need this permission if you prefer to keep your screen on while listening. If you disable this, your device's default sleep settings will be active.

View Network Connections and Wi-Fi Connection Information: We need this permission to get the Wi-Fi status of your device to determine whether you have an active connection.

Full Network Access: This allows streaming on your device.

Pair With Bluetooth Devices: This allows you to play via Bluetooth devices.
