These are three likely reasons this is happening:
- You may have your device set to shut off Wi-Fi once your screen goes to sleep. If you're listening to a stream using Wi-Fi, the stream will stop playing once Wi-Fi is cut off. Please check your device settings to ensure Wi-Fi stays enabled.
- Android devices running on OS 3.1 or higher have a feature that reduces power consumption by gradually lowering the Wi-Fi performance when the screen turns off. While it doesn't turn Wi-Fi off completely for low performance device needs, it directly affects the TuneIn app's ability to stream in this state. Currently, there is no option within the device to turn this feature off.
- On devices running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) when Power Saving mode is ON, your device will lose the ability to stream and play content if the screen goes to sleep when TuneIn is playing in the background. To address this issue, access your Android System Settings, and select ""Battery."" Then turn the Power Saving feature OFF.
In the event that none of the above applies to your situation, you may experience inconsistent streaming using TuneIn once the screen goes to sleep due to another power-saving application running on your device at the same time. In such cases, please refer to that application's settings for possible solutions.
